Holiday Spirit & Exercise
Excuses, Excuses. It is so easy to make an excuse to NOT work out or to eat badly. There are so many instances where we just don't realize what we do to the insides of our bodies when we make the wrong choices. As adults most of us drink alcohol which is basically poison, we eat tons of sugar and carbohydrates, we don't worry about transfats, we are sleep deprived, rushed and stressed out. Then we look in the mirror and wonder why we have cellulite, belly fat, can't fit in our jeans, shirts are too tight.... we actually wonder why?
We need to have balance! Not just exercise or a diet but BALANCE. To be healthy is to balance our diets, exercise and mind... (mind, body, spirit)!
We need our "beauty" sleep, some breathing time, daily exercise and we need to find a way to make healthy eating choices.
Just little changes in our daily routines can add up to some major body changes!
Taking a few extra minutes in the morning to sit in silence and take a deep breath can change your outlook on the whole day, eating less snacks high in sugar will keep you from having that tired low later in the day, exercise will help increase your energy, keep your heart healthy, burn fat and put you in a better mood.
These are just a few benefits of being balanced.
So STOP the excuses. Make better choices and make the time to take care of YOU!

My resolution for 2007 involves taking control over my life. Control applies to all areas of life: what you eat, what you do, how you feel, what you spend...the list goes on and on. I'm embarking on Christina's Biggest Loser challenge to see exactly how much control I really have over my life, and how much I can change by exerting that control in positive ways. I truly believe that the mind controls the outcome. Thanks Christina, for taking this on as a project and turning it in to something that will benefit anyone who has the strength and committment to follow through. See you at the gym!

I am so excited about the biggest loser challenge. Christina thank you so much because I think this is exactly what I need to steer me in the direction I need to go.

Week 1: "Biggest Loser Challenge", a.k.a. Fitness Spirit class. (I'm not sure which name motivates me more!) Two workouts so far were FANTASTIC - I left dripping and feeling energized!
I've been pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to change my eating habits. It just takes a little extra planning/preparation time to eat healthier. Not picking at my kids' leftovers is the hardest - counting those calories helps. This is the first time in my life I have ever done that. Kathy emailed this website with a database full of nutrition facts, so I thought I'd share: http://www.nutritiondata.com. Enjoy!
Christina, we would like an update on the St.Louis conference you are speaking at - don't forget to add it to the blog!
P.S. I just did my first two sets of stairs - how is everyone else doing?)
